Optical :: Best Practice
- Trained optical professionals should assess the patient's eyes and make appropriate recommendations.
- Always have a local referral plan for critical optical situations.
- Eye glasses are not always the answer for every patient.
- Children under 12 years old should not be seen except by optometrist.
- Used glasses should be read with a lensometer and labeled with the lens prescription prior to the trip.
- Artificial tears are beneficial for many eye irritations i.e. dust, smoke, sunlight, etc.
- Sun glasses are good to distribute especially for people who have to work outside in the sun.
- Always relate physical vision to spiritual vision.
- Use scripture in different fonts in the language of the people to check effectiveness of reading glasses.
